I’m proud to share that Tulane University has received a $5 million gift from the Zemurray Foundation to establish the Doris Z. Stone Latin American Library and Research Center. This investment honors a century of leadership in Latin American studies and supports one of the world’s most important collections—right here at Tulane.
This gift is a powerful affirmation of the extraordinary work led by Dr. Hortensia Calvo and the Latin American Library team. Their expertise and care have made this collection indispensable to researchers, and I’m thrilled that their efforts are being recognized and strengthened in this way.
It’s also an important signal of what’s possible. As we advance the Libraries’ Kaleidoscope Vision—centered on creativity, curiosity, and connection—we are seeking new ways to align our collections, expertise, and spaces with Tulane’s ambitions. This gift helps make that vision tangible. We are making so much progress, and our future is bright.
I invite you to read more in Tulane Today. I’m deeply grateful for this support—and more excited than ever for the future we’re building at Tulane University Libraries.
