2024 Annual Report: Clarity, Collaboration, and the Library Glow Up

If 2023 was about setting the foundation, 2024 was the year we started to really see it take shape—and shine. Our 2024 Tulane University Libraries Annual Report captures what that’s looked like: new leadership structures, new investments in people and collections, and a very visible glow up.

Yes, we got a new brand. Yes, the scaffolding finally came down. But this year wasn’t about appearances—it was about alignment. We’ve been working steadily to bring our spaces, services, and strategy into sync. And now, walking into the Libraries feels different. Sharper. Warmer. More inviting. Like the future is actually happening here.

We made progress on big things—back-cataloging rare books, expanding support for digital scholarship, deepening our Latin American Library investments—and tackled the operational things that matter just as much. We rolled out a hybrid work policy grounded in equity. We clarified communication expectations. We started treating the Libraries not just as a collection of departments, but as a system.

And while I’m proud of what’s in this report, I’m even more proud of how we got here. The conversations were sometimes hard. The changes were sometimes slow. But every step forward was rooted in listening, collaboration, and a shared desire to make something better—for students, for researchers, and for each other.
